Usenet news is basically a huge bulletin board. There are thousands of
subjects you can select from. Alt.fan.dragons got its start in usenet news.

When you get into a news group you can read what is currently being discussed
through the messages that have been left there by others. Once someone places or
posts a message to a news group it stays there for three days to a week before
it disappears. Due to the way the news system works, not everyone sees the same
posts in the same order, nor even the same posts on the same day.
