Well, you want to know a little about Dragons Must Be Here? First off a bit of history about me, the site. Firstly my name is Adam, and am originally from the UK, but am currently residing in the Middle East. Well the United Arab Emirates to be exact. I fell in love with dragons in 1999, funnily enough after a trip to Thailand. That was really the first time I came into contact with things relating to dragons. Well after that I couldn't get enough of them. The web has been a personal hobby of mine since I was about 12. I took one of those online tutorials, and started making my own websites. My very first website was a personal homepage. Which is still online, but not in its original version. In fact I never completed the new version. You can see it here at: www.aol.250x.com. My first dragon site, was pretty much a gallery of dragon related pictures. It was the begginngs of what is tody DMBH.ORG. That is also still online. www.dragons.wtcsites.com. The actual address was www.dragons.mustbehere.com. This is where the name for the current site comes from. At the same time I had made a site called GamesXchange.net, which allowed members to swap electronic games with people living in my area. This however horribly failed, due to the prolifiration of pirate game. At the same time I had started working on the new dragon site. I was bored of gamesXchange, and just decided to make a site for fun. I never realised how popular it would eventually be. This when I started the directory. It was just a plain html based website. This is no longer online. lol. It did fantasticly well compared to my dyeing GamesXchange. It didn't even have its own address, it was something like: gamesxchange.net/dragons/ Anyway, when it was time for my GamesXchange.net domain to expire, I decided, urged on by the popularity of my dragon site, to buy a domain for it. This is when DMBH.ORG was born. All this time, I was using borrowed server space, and free hosting. So a friend of mine, the webmaster of www.GulfJobSites.com bought me hosting. After a while I decided that my site needed a huge upgrade. That is when I looked for portal scripts to create a dragon site portal. The community part of the site had never even occured to me. This is when I found web-app.org. I then had a dragon community for almost two years. However I decided to go back to basics, and this is the site you see currently. Instead I decided to work on a number of other projects, as well as have more free time to concentrate on my studies. These are some of my other sites: cramnotes.dmbh.org -Adam |
